Popcult 2016

Popcult on ohi ja oli hieno viikonloppu! Jos Kulpiista valitin ettei ollut tekemistä, Popcultissa sitä sitten oli vaikka kuinka paljon! Paljon jäi tekemättäkin ja ohjelmia näkemättä. Viikonlopun ehdoton kohokohta oli Valitsen Sinut!-musikaali!
Lauantaina sain taas laittaa cossin päälle rauhassa kotona. Niin rauhassa että missasin ekan junan millä oli tarkotus mennä, mutta onneksi ehdin hyvin seuraavallakin :'D Nähtiin Miin kanssa Kulttuuritalon edessä ja mentiin siitä sitten ilmottautumaan kisaan ja siitä bäkkärin kautta kuvauksiin. Kun sitten oli vapaa-aikaa ennen omaa tuomarointiaikaa, menin photoshoottipisteelle (missä voit "vuokrata" kuvaajan itsellesi lyhyeksi ajaksi), ja sain sieltä jesmon kuvaajakseni. Tykkään näistä tosi paljon, niin hienoja <3

Popcult is over and it was great weekend! If I complained about Kulpii that there was nothing to do, Popcult had it more than enough! A lot was missed and programs unseen. The highlight of the weekend was definitely I choose You!-musical!
On Saturday I got to put my cosplay on at home in peace. So in peace that I missed the first train I was supposed to take, but good thing I made it with the next one too really well :'D I saw Mii in front of the Kulttuuritalo and we went to register to the competition and from there by the backstage to take contestant photos. After that I had free time before my judging time I went to photoshoot service (where you can "rent" a photographer for a short time) and from there jesmo as my photographer. I like these so much, so pretty <3

Kuvauksien jälkeen sain Convallarialta viestin että pääsisin tuomarointiin jo aiemmin, joten suuntasin bäkkärille ja tein viimeiset tsekkaukset. Mielestäni tuomarointi meni hyvin, ehkä mukavin tuomarointi missä oon ollu ^^ tuomarit oli mukavia eikä mua jännittäny pahemmi eikä menny sanattomaks niinku köh Frostissa (no mut siel piti jännittyneenä sössöttää englantia :'D). Tuomarit kierteli ja hipelteli asua ja kyseli kaikkea.
Tuomaroinnin jälkeen mentiin syömään Kulttiksen ravintolaan, ja noh... en varmaan oo ikinä syöny huonompaa makaroonilaatikkoa.. Se oli kuivaa ja pahaa :/ (siis miten makaroonilaatikon voi ees pilata noin) Sitten käväsin taidekujalla tuhlaamassa (Haikyuuuu!) ja taisin vaan hengailla lavatutustumiseen asti.
Lavaharkkojen jälkeen mentiin bäkkärille takasin odottamaan. Designpukukisa oli ennen normipukukisaa, ja koska lavan sivutila oli pieni, me jouduttiin eka odottamaan alakerrassa pukkareilla, josta mammat sitten pikkuhiljaa meitä vei ylös hissillä. Lavaosuus meni kai ihan hyvin, en muista? :'D Sijotusta ei tullu, mutta oli kivaa, yks kaveri jota en oo nähny pitkää aikaa oli kanssa kisaamssa ja oli kiva nähdä pitkästä aikaa, ja muutenki turista muiden bäkkärillä olleiden kanssa :> Sain myös hyvää palautetta tuomareilta ja hyviä neuvoja missä parantaa. Ainoa asia mikä Kaorun asussa ärsyttää on peruukin nuo pitkät sivut, jotka ei suoristu millään >_<
Kisan jälkeen hengailin kaverien kanssa, ja menin vielä kattomaan noitavaino-luennon, joka oli mielenkiintonen. Kisa loppu niin aikasin et oisin ehkä ehtiny kuunele jotakin aiemmista ohjelmista mitä osin halunnu, mutta en tajunnu sitä tarpeeks ajoissa! Sittenpä lähdettiin Miin kanssa mun kämpille, missattiin just minuutilla juna ja mentiin vetää hesemätöt seuraavaa ootellessa ja parannettiin cosplaymaailmaa.

After photoshooting I got message from Convallaria that I could go to the judging already earlier, so I made my way to backstage and did my last minute check on the costume. I think the judging went well, maybe the nicest judging where I've been ^^ the judges were nice and I wasn't so nervous as for example at Frostbite (well, there I also had to speak english while being nervous :'D). The judges walked around me and touched the costume and asked stuff.
After the judging we went to eat to Kulttuurikeskus's restaurant and, well.. I've probably never eaten worse pasta-meat-casserole (Finnish traditional food) as that one.. It was dry and just tasted bad :/ (seriously, is it even possible to mess this food this badly!) Then I went to Artist Alley to spend money (Haikyuuuuu!!!!) and probably just hanged out until we got to go to see the stage.
Aftet the stage practice we went back to backstage to wait. Design competition was before the normal costume contest, and because the actual backstage was very small so we had to wait downstairs where our dressing rooms were and the cosplay mammas took us to upstairs by elevator little by little.  The stage part went okay I think, I can't remember :'D I didn't place but had fun anyways, one friend I had not seen for long time also competed there so it was nice to see her again, and to talk to other contestants at the backstage :> I also got very good feedback form the judges and advice where to improve. Only thing that annoys me in Kaoru is those long sides of his wig that won't just stay straight >__<
After the contest I just hanged with friends and went to see a panel about witch hunts, which was interesting. The contest ended early so I could have made it to some of the other panels I would have wanted to see but I didn't realize it until it was too late! Then we left with Mii to my house, missed the train by minute and went to eat to Hesburger while waiting for the next one and improved the cosplay world.

Sunnuntaina ensimmäiseksi menin kuuntelemaan kunniavierasohjelmaa. Kunniavieraina olivat ääninäyttelijät Ossi Ahlapuro (Frollo - Notre Damen kellonsoittaja, Robert Callaghan - BigHero 6) ja Mari Riikonen (Jessie (eka cast) - Pokémon). Oli mukava kuunnella heitä, etenkin Alhapuro on itelle tutumpi ääni lapsuudesta, Riikosen tiedän vaan Poksusta enkä ees tienny näyttelijän nimee ennen tätä varmaa l'D Ahlapuro on myös ollu mun lempi-Disney-leffassa, Aarreplaneetassa (Silverinä) <3
Olin sopinu klo 12 shootin mvioletin kanssa. Onneksi sunnuntaina oli parempi ja lämpimämpi sää ni ulkona viitti olla vähän pidempäänki. Mviolet otti tosi hyviä kuvia myös~

Sunday first thing I went to see the guest of honor panel. Guest of honors were Finnish voice actors Ossi Ahlapuro (Frollo - Hunchback of Notre Dame, Robert Gallaghan - BigHero 6) and Mari Riikonen (Jessie (first cast) - Pokémon). It was nice to listen to them talk, especially Alhapuro is very familiar voice for me from childhood, I don't really know other roles for Riikonen except Pokémon, and even before this I didn't know the name of the actor I think l'D Alhapuro has also been in my favorite Disney movie, Treasureplanet (Silver) <3
I had arranged a photoshoot with mviolet. Good thing it was a bit better and warmer weather so you could actually stay outside a bit longer. Mviolet took so good photos too~

Sitten pitikin kipittää jo odottelemaan pääsyä katsomaan Valitsen sinut!-musikaalia! Jännitti, kun about puol kaveripiiriä on mukana :'D (no ei ihan, mutta aika monta, ja moneen oon tutustunu tässä samalla). On ollu hienoa seurata tätä vierestä, ja nyt viimein pääsi näkemään lopputuloksen ja se oli M-A-H-T-A-V-A!!!!! Myönnän, taisin alkaa itkemään jo kun openingi alko soimaan. Ja monessa muussakin kohdassa. So much feels. Kaikki veti tosi hyvin ja ah, ne puvut, herranjestas <3_<3 En voi hehkuttaa varmaan musikaalia tarpeeks! Menkää kattomaan/kattokaa kun tulee Tubeen esityskauden jälkeen. Itse meinaan ainakin mennä kattomaan uudestaan! Tässä muutama kuva, liikaa spoilaamatta toivottavasti kuitenkin :>

Then it was time to go to wait for the start of the I Choose You!-musical! I was nervous because I had about half of my friends in it :'D (well, no, but many still, and I had gotten to know many others trough them). It has been wonderful to follow their work from side and now I finally got to see the result and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!! I admit, I started crying already when the opening started. And in maaany other parts. So much feels. Everyone was really good and oh those costumes, my god <3_<3 I can't praise this musical enouh I think! Go see it/watch it when it comes to Youtube after the perform season. I'll definitely go to see it again! Here are few pictures, without spoiling too much I hope :>

Musikaalin jälkeen coni loppui. Mutta oli hyvä coni, vaikka ohjelmapuoli tänä vuonna jäikin vähemmälle. Ja kiinnostavaa olikin vähemmän tänä vuonna, ja ne mitkä kiinnosti oli kaikki päällekkäin :'D Seuraavana sitten Cosvision viikon päästä, siellä nähdään!

After the musical the con was over. But it was good con, even though the program side was left a bit quieter for me. And there were less interesting programs this year, and those that I wanted to see were all at the same time :'D Next up is Cosvision in a week, see ya there!

WIP: Jinora

Heips!

Ajattelinpa tehdä airbenderitytystä WIPpiä tässä aikani kuluksi. Asuhan nyt on jo valmis. Kuten jo Chibin postauksessa mainitsin, Jinora oli tarkotus siellä debytoida, mutta en saanut peruukkia ajoissa. Lopulta sain sen tuossa Traconin jälkeen (maanantaina, tietty).

I thought of making some WIP for airbender girl to pass time. The costume is actually ready already. Like I told in Chibicon's post, I was supposed to debut Jinora there, but I didn't get the wig in time. Finally I got it after Tracon (monday, of course).

Jinora - Legend of Korra

Aloitin housuista. Hetken pohdittuani miten hitossa nuo toimii, tein ne Hakuryuun housujen kaavoilla joista vaan leikkasin haarat auki. Kankaana keltaisissa osissa toimi Mallorca.

Unohdin tietty että nuo kaavat on järkky isot, ja jouduin tosi paljon pienentämään näitä :'D Vuoritin ne samalla kankaalla, kun sitä sattui olemaan tarpeeksi (ei olis välttämättä tarvinnu mutta teinpä silti)

I started with the pants. After wondering for a moment how those work I did them with the patterns of Hakuryuu's pants and cut them open between the legs. I used Mallorca for the yellow parts.

I forgot that those patters are huge and had to shrink these quite a lot :'D I lined them with the same fabric as I happened to have enough (I wouldn't have needed to do this but did anyways)

 Seuraavana oli paita. Siinä ei ollu mitään kummosta, Oliverin poolon kaavoilla tein pikkasen normaalia isompana koska Oltsun paita oli aika ihonmyötänen. Ois kyl vieläki vähä löysempi saanu olla. Hihat jostain kumman syystä on vähän lyhyehköt, mitä Oliverilla ei kyllä muistaakseni ollu o_o

Next up was shirt. This was quite normal stuff, done with Oliver's shirt pattern and I did made it a bit bigger than normally as Oliver's shirt was quite clingy Could have been still more loose. For some reason the sleeves are almost too short, I don't remember this happening with Oliver o_o

Viitta-asia ja muut oranssit osat, aka vyön ja hihan rinkulat, tein oranssista trikoosta. Viitasta tuli ensin liian pieni, joten tein uuden. Tykkään tosta viitasta jostain syystä tosi paljon :'D improsin kaavat paidan avulla. Eipä tässäkään muuten mitään erikoista, ommeltu kuin paita pääsääntösesti ja hihat jätetty auki.

Cape-thing and other orange parts, aka the belt and the rings in the sleeves, I made from orange tricot. First cape was too small so I made new one. I like that very much for some reason : D I improvised the patterns with the shirt. Nothing special with this otherwise, sewn like a shirt but left the sleeves open.

Sitten kengät, jotka oli ehkä se "hankalin" osuus, vaikkei hankalia varsinaisesti ollutkaa. Ostin Prisman alesta normi balleriinat ja leikkasin sivut irti. Sitten heitin vähän gessoa ja maalia päälle ettei turkoosi paistaisi kankaan läpi. Päällystin ruskeella kankaalla, joka ikävä kyllä vähän kiristi kenkiä, ja liimasin kiinni sukkisten pohjaan. 

Then the shoes, which were the "hardest" part of this even though they weren't really that hard. I bought normal ballerinas from sale and cut the sides away. Then I threw on some gesso and paint so that the turqoise color wouldn't shine through the farbic. I covered them with brown fabric, which made the shoes a bit tighter sadly, and glued to the stockings

Lopulta päästään siihen mun lempiosuuteen tässä cossissa, eli propit (kerranki, yleensä ne on se mitä vähiten tykkään tehä :'D). Joku varmaan nyt ihmettelee, että mitkä propit? Eihän sillä mitään ole? Ei olekkaan, mutta halusin tehdä Jinoralle bendaus-propit mitä oon netissä nähny. Käytin oikestaan tätä tutoriaalia, mutta ketjun sijaan käytin siimaa.
Koska E-kankaassa ei ollut sopivan harmaata kangasta, ostin jotain valkosta ohutta ja värjänsin sen. Käytin ekaa kertaa tällästä DEKA L-kangasväriä, koska sitä löyty vaaleen harmaana. Vähän kyllä oli jännä, kun ohjeen mukaan eka piti vettä kiehuttaa ja sitten jäähdyttää 60-70 asteiseks. Eikö sen vois suoraan vaan lämmittää tohon haluttuun asteeseen? Anygays, sitten kangasta ihan normaalisti lilluteltiin. En tainnut ihan täyttä aikaa pitää kun tarkotus oli saada tosi vaaleeta.

Finally we get to my favorite part in this costume, and that's props (for once, usually they are the part I like doing the least :'D). Someone probably now wonders, what props? She doesn't have anything? Nope, but I wanted to make Jinora these bending props I've seen in internet. I actually used mostly this tutorial, except I used fishing string instead of chain.
Since Eurokangas didn't have fitting fabric in fitting gray, I bought white thin fabric and dyed it. I used for the first time this DEKA L-fabric dye as it had light gray I wanted. It was a bit weird as by the instructions you first needed to boil water and then cool it to be 60-70 degrees. Couldn't you just heat the water to be the right temperature right away? Anygays, then you just let the fabric sit in the color normally. I don't think I kept it there for the full time as I wanted it quite light.

Tuo nyt ei kyllä oo ihan vaaleen harmaa, ainakaa semmone mitä pussi väitti tulevan. Mutta vaikka siitä tuliki pikkasen tummempi ku mitä odotin, tykkään tosta väristä! 

Sitten tein kuten tossa videossa, laitoin tennispalloon (ensin käytin sellasta kovaa muovipalloa, mutta pyöritellessä homma lipes kädestä ja pallot meni rikki l'D) tollasen koukkuruuvin johon laitoin metallilaattoja painoks (10 kpl/pallo, riippuu kankaan painosta), ja kun en löytäny tollasta avaimenperävälikappalejuttua ni sidoin siiman vaan siihen, ja toiseen päähän renkaan. Pallon idea on siis antaa painoa, koska pelkkä kangas ei pyöri nätisti. Ompelin kankaan reunat pienimmällä siksakilla mitä koneesta löyty ja solmin yhteen kulmaan "pesän" kuten tossa videossa. Sitten pallo solmupesään ja VOLA! Olet luonut elementtisi!

It's not really that light gray, at least not what the package said it would be. But even though it came a bit too dark, I really like that color!

Then I did like in the video, inserted a hook screw to a tennis ball and put some washers to make it hevier (10 per ball, depends on how heavy or light your fabric is) and as I didn't find that kind of key chain thing I just tied the fishing string to the screw and a ring to other end. The idea of the ball is to give weight, the fabric only won't spin nicely. I sew the fabric with smallest zig zag my machine had and tied one corner to a "nest" like in the video. Then I put the ball in the knot nest and VOLA! You have your element!

Noinikään

Mulla ei nyt oo mitää matskua millä näyttää miten noi toimii, mutta ihan kivasti pyörivät : D pitää harjotella vähän vielä, mulla vaan ei oo kotona kauheesti tilaa pyöritellä..

Vikana vielä se kaikkein kauhulla odotetuin osa, AKA peruukki. Tilasin kaks peruukkia, jonka toisen leikkasin paloiksi ja liimasin kuituja styropallon päälle nutturaks. Ei siitä nyt ihan kaikkein siistein tullu mutta ekaks yritykseks ihan hyvä. Vieläkään en ihan osaa päättää tuliko tosta liian iso ja pitäiskö tehä uus o_o jahka nään kunnon kuvia ni ehkä osaan sanoo. Jossain kulmassa se näyttää ihan ok.

I don't have any materials to show how these work, but they spin pretty nicely : D I need to practice some more, I just don't have that much space in my home to spin these...

Last was the part  I waited with most fear, AKA wig. I ordered two wigs, and cut other one into pieces and glued fibers around a styroball to make the bun. It's not the most tidiest one but for first try I'm pretty satisfied. I still can't decide is it a bit too big and should I do new one o_o As I see the actual photos I might be able to say. From some angles it looks okay.

Meillä oli perjantaina PC:n studiokuvaukset. PC:tä yritetään brändätä ja visaulisoida, ja tämä oli näidenkin kuvien tarkoitus. Ihan perus shoottikuvia, kunnes sitten päätettiin alkaa vähän leikkimään propeilla mitä oli tuotu paikalle. Näette tulokset sitten joskus. mutta näistä sais aika hyvin sellasen "expectation vs reality"-memen cosplaysta : DD  

Oli muuten eka kerta kun olin studiossa kuvaamassa, kokemus se oli tämäkin. Päätin laittaa Jinoran kun kerta tuli tilaisuus saada kuvia, plus ajattelin että sillä saa tätä harrastuksen länsimaistakin puolta näkyville.

We had a studio photoshoot with PC, our local cosplay community. We're trying to kinda brand and vizualise PC and this was the point of this photoshoot as well. Just normal photoshoot pictures, until we decided to start playing with the props that had been brought to us. You'll see the results later, but you'd get pretty good "excpectation vs reality"-meme of cosplay : DD

It was by the way first time I had photoshoot in a studio. I guess this is an expeciense of its own as well. I decded to put on Jinora as I had a chance to get pictures of her and thought that I couls bring out the western side of this hobby.
